Following the Pittsburgh Pirates winning the 1903 World Series, many fans were eagerly anticipating a potential rematch between the Pirates and Philadelphia Athletics.  Instead, with the World Series being called off, all that fans have to look forward to is a chance to win the National or American League pennants.  With that in mind, the yearly predictions have been held again, and the results may surprise a lot of people.  Do baseball writers think that the Pirates and Athletics will repeat as league champions, or do they see new teams taking the crowns?

After the success of the 1903 World Series, players and fans alike were excited to begin the 1904 season.  However, National League owners weren't as thrilled, and took what many people believed to be a step backwards.  What did they do before the start of the new season, and how did the Major League Draft shake out?  You can find the answers below.

For the first time in professional baseball history, the two champions of the American and National Leagues were set to face off to determine an overall league champion.  The 1903 World Series between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Athletics may have been looked at as a matchup between two baseball teams, but it meant much, much more than that.  For the Athletics, it was a chance to prove that the American League belonged to be mentioned in the same breath as the National League.  Meanwhile, the Pirates had the look of an emerging dominant team, and they wanted nothing more than to show their skills by winning the World Series.

For this series, the two leagues adapted a best of nine format, meaning that the winning team would have to take five games to earn the championship.  Which team would take the series and claim the title of World Series champion?  The exciting results are below.
